Whiskey Smash from the Brown Room
This drink from Congress Hall’s 200th Anniversary Presidential Cocktail menu was inspired by James Buchanan because of his passion for whiskey. It’s an approachable bourbon cocktail and easy to drink. The blackberry and mint help bring out the wood, dark fruit, and chocolate flavors from the bourbon, and makes it a pleasant spring and summer cocktail.
- 2 ounces Woodford Reserve bourbon
- 1.5 ounces of blackberry mint syrup
- 1/2 ounce of lemon juice
- Blackberries for garnish
Combine bourbon, syrup, and lemon juice in a shaker. Add ice and shake to combine. Pour into a tumbler with ice. Garnish with blackberries and a sprig of mint.
